Exercise is Medicine

Let’s Get Started

Annual Check Up

Before beginning any exercise program, you must see your physician for an exercise prescription that fits the condition of your health and fitness level.

Annual Health Check

Your annual health check is the only tracking tool to prevent chronic illness and disease or the progression of chronic illness and disease. Know Your Numbers: "Next time you visit your health care provider, be sure to ask for a copy of your critical health numbers and develop a treatment plan which may include eating healthier, exercise and medication, to manage them," said Daniel W. Jones, M.D., past president of the American Heart Association. Click here to learn more.

Footwear

Footwear

For injury prevention and safe and improved performance for a walk, run or jog, select a pair of tennis shoes that fits your foot, paying special attention to your arches and your foot type and shape. Choose tennis shoes with proper cushioning, flexibility and stability according to the structure of your foot.

Wear and Tear

Even if your shoes still look great on the outside, running and walking shoes should be replaced about every 300-400 miles, or every 3-5 months, if you are averaging 20 miles a week. Wearing shoes that no longer offer the right amount of support and cushioning puts you at risk for pain and injury.
